My first Sigur Ros show. At the time, I was living in Nashville and Louisville was the closest spot for me to see them on their tour. March 26 also is my birthday so that just made this extra sweet.

The Brown Theatre is beautiful and offered an intimate experience. I was pleasantly surprised that everyone sat down for the entire show. It felt like seeing a symphony. The Album Leaf opened up and I became a fan instantly.

Sigur Ros (with the amazing efforts of Amina) put on an amazing show. It was almost a religious experience for me. The highlight for me was the performance of “Viðrar vel til loftárása” which is one of my favorite songs. Midway through the song, Jonsi and the band paused for what felt like a full minute. The whole theater was silent. Nobody took a breath. It was magical. I’ve seen them do this in other shows with larger crowds and you always had someone yell out “woo hoo” during the silence. It still gives me shivers.

This show was incredible! Around midnight on the drive home from Louisville to Muncie, IN, my roommate and I saw a huge explosion and a ball of orange light fly across the sky. It turned out to be the Park Forest meteorite that fell in Illinois! Once in a lifetime show, followed by a once in a lifetime experience. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Park_Forest_(meteorite)
