Pure magic… I went to Sigur Ros concert in October, 2016 and I just had to come back. Takk Sigur Ros!!!

I’ve seen the band six times and this unfortunately was the least memorable performance among them. The lack of Kjarri, strings, and horns leaves many of the songs sounding rather hollow. On top of that, there were trucks driving around the stage during the performance and venue workers picking up trash among the audience during the performance. I’ll always love Sigur Ros but this one was a disappointment.

6ixth time seeing you live and you keep getting better! góða nótt! I will never forget you playing dauðalogn in 2012 at the same venue!

One of the most visually stunning experiences I have had, on top of incredible music. Takk! A buddy of mine said that there were moments he forgot where he was, taking it all in–I wholeheartedly agree. Well done!

Was my first time seeing the band live and it was so awesome I couldnt be any happier! I just loved everything about the show. Thank you guys!

Great show! Visuals were fantastic. A hearty show by the band as usual. I feel like being a 4-piece band used to suit them better, but they were still great as a 3-piece tonight.

    Perfect.
    Hypnotic.
    Unbelievable.
Once in a life time, for me.

    Takk!

Went as a guest of my girlfriend who is a huge Sigur Rós fanatic. Not a Sigur Rós afficionado myself (more of a Wheeler Walker Jr. fan), but the concert was professionally done, and the audience seemed to be overjoyed.

    says:

Takk Sigur Ros! I saw you in November at Massey Hall, my favourite venue in Toronto acoustically and was left better than I’ve ever felt before. The magic certainly didn’t disappear tonight in an inferior, albeit, outdoor venue and it certainly didn’t feel like a rerun. If I win the lottery, I’ll be in Iceland for your shows over Christmas… And a big shout out to your sound man who couldn’t give the set list but couldn’t have been nicer about it. See you again soon.

    says:

Great show as always but out of the 4 times I’ve seen Sigur Ros now this time was by far the most lack lustre. I’m always blown away and I just wasn’t tonight. Something about Jonsi seemed off, hope he’s alright but his vocals didn’t pierce me like they normally do. I especially noticed maybe a vocal problem during Festival – Jonsi didn’t even attempt his normal elongated note. Also kind of disappointed there was almost nothing new about this show from the last tour. Will always see you guys next time of course though.

Stunning performance and visuals, as I expected. This was the second Sigur Ros concert for me, I would attend again in a heartbeat. So powerful and a really beautiful experience. Takk

This was my first concert ever in my life. I saved a lot of money to travel to toronto and to buy the ticket. I was looking forward to it because i love u guys soo much.
I was a bit disappointed because my favourite albums are Takk, Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust and () but ypu didn’t play much of those. That made me sad a bit. I was really looking forward to hear Se lest because that’s my all time favourite and it was the first song I’ve heard for you and it was the reason why i became a fan of you.

But other than that the show was great. Visually stunning, your music is magic, i didn’t even had to drink cause your music gives me all the great feelings. And of course at least i had the opportunity to gear and see Jónsi live!!

    says:

Absolute otherworldly experience. I grew up listening to your songs and I’ve always wanted to see you guys in person. I was blown away by the visuals and the fact that Jonsi’s voice sounds even better in person. There’s no one in this world that has a more angelic voice. Outstanding performance I only wish I could have had a meet and greet with the band. There was a moment when only me and the band existed no atmosphere or crowd, I have never had such a celestial experience. I hope to see you all many more times. Takk Sigur Ros

incredible experience! i didn’t know I love your work this much before seeing you live!

  • Claudia

    says:

I love seeing this band but this show was a little disappointing. The concert started an hour later than originally stated and two of my favourite songs (Starálfur and Fljótavík) were cut from the second act. When I bought tickets in the presale, I was so excited that I didn’t notice that this concert was still on the same tour as the October 2016 show at Massey Hall. It’s a lovely concert to see in an intimate theatre but it doesn’t have the sound and energy to hold up to an outdoor venue, which carries much more ambient noise and distractions.

That said, hearing this band in open air was still an amazing experience. The 2012 Echo Beach concert was one of the best in my life. And less than stellar Sigur Rós is better than none.

  • Matthew Wheeler

    says:

This was my fourth time seeing the band and it’s always an ethereal experience. The visuals were beyond words and the ambiance was second to none. Feeling the cool breeze and being able to glance over at the city scape while Sigur Ros wowed the audience made for a really special experience. Definitely one of my favourite moments.

    Þakka þér fyrir!

Hrikalega flottir og sjaldan séð annað eins show. Lagaval með eindæmum gott en hljóðið í Echo Beach var ekki alveg 100%. Svona eins og fara í 3 bíó. Dugar en maður veit að þetta getur farið uppí amk 11.

My first time seeing one of your shows and I was blown away! Amazing show! Thank you!

  • Gina

    says:

Second time seeing Sigur Rós live and I loved it. Totally magical. I’d have to say the first time I saw them at the ACC was much more powerful and intimate. Nonetheless, even though Echo Beach isn’t the best venue for this kind of concert (acoustics not so great), Sigur Rós killed it!

  • Robb

    says:

Sigur Ros is always perfect. Beautiful sound and imagery. Will continue to see them if they continue to tour.

  • Jessica

    says:

No words can even describe the experience of Sigur Ros. Phenomenal displays and lighting, music is almost exactly as it is on the album, but so much better. This was my third time seeing them live in their third tour, and they have never disappointed. Best part is that the audience is so quiet, every note and chord could be heard and devoured. If you couldn’t see the stage it didn’t matter because just hearing the music alone made up for it. The experience brings out nostalgia of childhood as well as a magic ambience. By far one of my top favourite bands. Thank you so much for touring in Canada, and we cannot wait for you to tour again!!

    says:

This was my 4th time seeing your show! I simply love you guys. But this venue was my least favorite. My 1st time was Fox Thratre, Detroit. 2nd time was Air Canada Centre in Toronto. 3rd time was at Massy Hall in Toronto. My favorite was in Fox Thratre and Massy Hall. More intimate setting and the acoustic sound were amazing in both. Echo beach venue was my least memorable favorite experience. The only time I get in tune with the music was being upfront centre; a busy spot but best to see you and for the sound. We moved around. And also had to sit for a lil bit. But everywhere else we were was too many people with traffic flow and people talking; was a big distraction for me. I prefer being inside in a more intimate setting. I just would not do Echo Beach again. Thank you for putting on a fantastic concert once again. See you till the next time.

Fantastic. Absolutley beautiful. Sound and visuals. Best performance I’ve ever seen.

  • Margaretta

    says:

Always love seeing Sigur Rod but I agree this time was not the best. Mostly the venue I suppose – the acoustics just weren’t there. And I am gutted they didn’t play Hoppipola! So disappointing. Other than that, as usual, lovely music and visuals.

  • Nadiya Marwah

    says:

Thank you Sigur Ros’! Last night you transported me to another planet with your music ❤️ This was one of the best concerts I have ever seen. You make magic and make us believe in beautiful music. I have never been so moved at a concert like yesterday. Continuous tears.

First time seeing Sigur Ros live. One of the best days of my life, the music the visuals. Their music is for souls not ears.

  • James A

    says:

-First time seeing Sigur Ros — I was in the front so noises associated to an outdoor venue didn’t really apply to me
-The drums was probably one of things that stood out to me
-I think there should have been a supporting cast to add a bit more dimension
-Don’t know if they’re doing encores in this tour, but I was disappointed when the crowd didn’t cheer for one >:(

  • Agra

    says:

Magical, uplifting, energizing, powerful – cannot stop thinking about the last night’s performance. Takk!

  • Sabrina

    says:

An incredible performance by the band! The music and light show were amazing! I was so happy to hear they were coming to Toronto and they did not disappoint! Can’t wait for you to come back!

    says:

We drove up from Buffalo, NY, going because my daughter likes Sigur Ros and this was her birthday present for me. I assume the show started at 9 PM because there were not enough security screeners to get everyone in by 8 PM. It would have been helpful to let the audience know as well as who opened. Although we did get Twitter updates, could have used more detail. These are minor points.
The concert and the light show were stunning especially the latter in the context of the ethereal music. It is hard in an open air venue to get everyone to pay attention and there were the occasional talkers. In general the audience was held rapt by the music and the visuals. Look forward to a return visit. Please consider western NY for a future concert.

    says:

Second time seeing the band live, the last being at the same venue in 2012. At the last show, the songs came to life, they felt anthemic and grandiose with roughly 10 instrumentalists on stage. This time, Sigur Rós went for a much more stripped back, minimal approach with only the 3 members of the group on-stage. I’m happy to say that they were able to achieve the same heights as last time with much fewer members.

For lack of a better term, these guys rocked the f*ck out of the Toronto waterfront. Songs like Sæglópur, Glósóli, and the finale of Popplagið were emotive in their quietest moments, yet enthralling in their loudest. The lack of a traditional encore was a bit of a bummer, but that’s hardly a criticism as the main set was more than satisfying. One thing to note: some fan-favourites such as Brennisteinn, Ísjaki, and Svefn-G-Englar were noticeably absent from the setlist. Not a big deal to me, but may be to some.

Oh yeah, the stage production was badass as usual too.

Other criticisms of the show are completely unrelated to the band themselves. The venue was looking a little rough that day and there were plenty of big transport vehicles driving around close to the stage during the show. A little bit of an annoyance, but did little to tarnish the overall experience.

I was bummed that I couldn’t make the last show at Massey Hall, but will go out of my way to see them again when they come back to Toronto!

Thanks for the great show guys and have a great rest of your tour!

I’ve been waiting to see this band live for years. It was just beautiful. But, I do wish it was in a concert theatre instead of outside because it would have been more intimate and there would be seating.

    But it was lovely. <3
